Piretrin is a biological insecticide obtained from pyrethrum extract or dried flowers of Kenya’s Chrysantemun (Pyretrum) Cinerariefolium, distinguished by its rapid contact and ingestion activity. It is biodegradable and natural in its entirety.

Cinerine, Pyrethrin and Jasmoline are formed by their acids, chrysanthemum and pyrethric. There is a distinctive insecticidal impact on each of the components. Among the characteristics of BIO 6000 Piretrin Plus, its rapid action (contact impact on the nervous system) should be highlighted; low toxicity to humans and mammals; low risk of development of resistance; large range of action; lack of persistence (it decomposes under the action of sunlight and wind), and it also has a repellent effect on insects.

In the natural world, degradation of pyrethrins is triggered by sunlight and air, starts in the alcohol group and requires the development of several unknown breakdown products.

Regarding the post-harvest potato, less than 1% of the initial residues were detected in the starch after 6 weeks of storage. In mammals, the ester bond is easily degraded in the stomach by hydrolysis to harmless metabolites. The metabolism of cinerin I, jasmoline I and pyrethrin I produce 13 to 18 metabolites in the liver of mice, which are subsequently oxidized to form alcohols, aldehydes, carboxylic acids, epoxides and dihydrodiols. Cinerin II, jasmoline II, and pyrethrin Ii are metabolized to alcohols, epoxides, and dihydrodiols.

Piretrin is a useful solution for the disinfection of premises, farms and the climate. It is used both indoors and outdoors to combat aphids. Since the substance degrades under the influence of sunlight, it is recommended that treatment should be carried out at dusk. The substance works only by touch and absorption, so it is important to ensure sufficient spraying.

Species it controls:

It is recommended for the control of aphids, ants, mealybugs, thrips, whiteflies, bostríquids, bruquids, cucíljidos, curculiónidos, geléchidos, ostomátidos, tenebriónidos and other weevils. Also, for the control of bostriquids, bruquids, cuckoo, curculionids, geléchids, tenebrionid ostomatids, small beetles, ficitids, tineids and other pests of cereal grains, legumes, tubers and other stored agricultural products and in the disinsection of agricultural premises and warehouses.

Application and dosage:

By fumigation or aerial spraying of water after dilution. May not refer to plants in damp weather or drafts. Indoors, the room will be ventilated upon application. In gardens and populated areas, great care will be taken to prevent children and adults from entering or handling the treated plants until the correct efficacy has elapsed after at least 1 day.

Recommendations:

The product is suitable for all agricultural crops. Also, suitable for use in warehouses, premises, storage rooms, buildings, etc. During the pest’s emergence or when it is in its first stages, it should be handled. Based on the evolution of an insect, applications can be replicated. Since the substance degrades under the influence of sunlight, it is recommended that treatment should be carried out at dusk. It is a very small selective insecticide with a wide range of activities. In order to value beneficial insects, this attribute must be tested in each event (pollinators, predators …) Reasonable treatment equipment should be used to allow uniform and full coverage of the foliage, wetting the entire surface of the leaves on the upper side and on the underside.

Treatments above the dropping point should be avoided. To obtain the best results with BIO 6000 Plus it is advisable that the spray mixture has a neutral PH.

Incompatible with preparations of alkalines.

Do not apply in cycles of flowering with bee pollination.

It causes paralysis initially, followed later by death.

It is not very constant, which, without prolonged effects, makes very particular interventions. Furthermore, it also has a strong repellent capacity, which implies that those who do not come into contact with the item are repelled and moved to other areas.

It also has acaricidal activity.
